NaNoWriMo 2021 "Winner"

Claire Donovan has spent the last ten years trying to forgive herself for not catching the serial killer who got away. After a grueling two year investigation that left eleven women dead, her ability to see through a killer’s eyes failed her, sending her into an alcoholic tailspin. Now, her career with Salt Lake City law enforcement is over and she is hanging on to six months of sobriety by the skin of her teeth.

That is, until Claire’s AA sponsor Rachel Espinoza, head of an FBI task force and the only other person who knows about Claire’s ability, confirms her worst fears. The Mortician is back. Determined not to make the same mistake twice and left with no other options, she’s calling in the one person who knows the case better than anyone to help lead the team: Claire.

To join Rachel’s task force Claire must put aside her fear of the killer who almost ended her life. To refuse would be to risk more victims. Unfortunately, Claire realizes too late that the killer has been watching her for the last ten years. As the bodies continue to pile up, Claire is forced to use her ability to stop the killer for good. If she fails, she may never recover. Or worse, she may be next on the killer’s list.

Pitch Wars 2021 Request

Alex is a normal 20 year old English major in Phoenix. Next to her studies, the family that adopted her as a baby is the most important thing in her world. In her eyes, she’s just regular old Alex, and that’s how she likes it.

When strangers begin approaching her, telling her “He’s coming, Alex. You have to go there. You have to stop him before it’s too late”, she thinks it’s a prank. Once is a coincidence; three times is a pattern. The end times-like mass deaths and suicides occurring all over the world don’t help her anxiety either. Adding to Alex’s sense of doom are her peculiar dreams of a city in Hell and a man named Jack who claims to be the devil. Jack is giving Armageddon a jumpstart and Alex is his secret weapon. She’s a product of Hell herself.

It turns out the road to Hell isn’t actually paved with good intentions; it starts in a stall in the DMV bathroom. Alex must make a choice to leave everything she knows and loves to go to Hell and stop Jack’s plan to start Armageddon and risk dying herself, or stay on earth with her family and allow the world to fall to its knees around her.

Request count: 3 Full and 6 Partial (Including 1 Pit Dark request and 1 PitMad request)

23 year old waitress Lucy De La Croix lost her parents at the age of six in a car accident. She should have died in that car accident too, but after a three-day coma, she mysteriously came out alive and perfectly intact. Except… something came back with her. Lucy has the ability to see the time a person will die, and to communicate with their ghosts afterward. And she is perfectly content to keep her abilities to herself and stay out of the public eye, because no one would believe her anyway.

When a serial killer starts murdering young affluent women in Salt Lake City, the ghosts of the killer’s victims beg her to help find their killer. What’s worse, Lucy knows three of them. When local police pursue the case, all roads lead back to Lucy, and they believe she might become his next victim. She is suddenly faced with a decision she hoped she would never have to make: risk telling the police about her abilities in order to help them with the case, or stay silent.

Lucy and her best friend try using her abilities in a race against the clock to find the killer before more of her friends end up dead. The trouble is, the killer has been watching his victims, which means he has been watching Lucy too.
